Chiam's legacy: New MP Sitoh replies

I REFER to Mr Liew Kai Khiun's letter on Monday ('Preserve Chiam's legacy in Potong Pasir').

I understand that many in Potong Pasir share Mr Liew's concerns.

I would like the residents of Potong Pasir to know that they have nothing to worry about. The projects that we have in mind - be it infrastructure-based or community-based - are not designed to disrupt or destroy the serenity and sense of community which Potong Pasir enjoys.

Instead, they are meant to enhance the lives of Potong Pasir residents by providing certain necessities to facilitate even greater bonding and a sense of community.

In my rally speech on May 5, I made certain promises to the residents of Potong Pasir.

I intend to keep all my promises.

It is not our aim to change the way in which residents of Potong Pasir have lived their lives - be it your familiar provision shops, open fields or private gardens.

We hope Potong Pasir residents will give us a chance to work together with them for the next five years.

Sitoh Yih Pin
Member of Parliament for Potong Pasir
