Technology enriches mio TV's football experience

WE REFER to the Forum Online letter by Mr Lim Sutjipto ("Second-best live telecast"; June 29).
SingTel's mio TV is delivered to television sets via a next-generation technology called Internet Protocol TV or IPTV. IPTV allows customers to control and enrich their viewing experience. For example, they can pause, rewind and record live TV programmes, and the mio TV website allows subscribers to programme their recordings even when they are not at home.
The enhanced features on mio TV's new "mio Stadium" channel are a clear demonstration of how we are harnessing this technology to bring new innovations to the market. mio Stadium will introduce a brand new feature that allows fans to push a button on their remote control while watching the Barclays Premier League games to access statistics, facts, live scores and other information, enabling them to access the latest developments without any disruption to the viewing experience. In parallel with adding such benefits through the technology, we are also working with our vendors to reduce the time taken for packet conversion.
These enhanced features and advanced technology require conversion of the original TV footage from video signals to IP packets, resulting in a short delay on the mio TV platform of six seconds, compared with free-to-air television. This small delay is more than compensated for by the rich experience that mio TV offers. A mio TV subscription to the World Cup enables customers to watch all 64 matches live and in high definition, and includes complimentary access to the matches on their SingTel mobile phone and the Internet simulcast.
We would like to thank Mr Sutjipto for his feedback.

you expect too much from Sinktel, one of the worst company in Sinkieland given the $$$ they have

They own no technology on their own
They outsource all the coding/design and focus on fleecing the sinkies
That's why they have all these problems with software, hardware etc

Compare Sinktel to Comcast and you will be shocked. I never had a single issue with Comcast internet or cable
