Four men arrested after fight involving weapons along Prinsep Street

One of the assailants allegedly attacked two men with a karambit knife.

SINGAPORE: Four men in their twenties were arrested in the early hours of Thursday (Apr 25) after a fight involving weapons along Prinsep Street.

Police were alerted to the incident at 12.40am and upon arriving at the scene, officers spotted two injured men.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the two men, aged 23 and 24, were purportedly attacked by another group of men after a dispute, said the Singapore Police Force (SPF) in a news release on Friday.

One of the assailants had allegedly attacked the victims with a karambit knife.

Those involved were arrested on the same day after being identified by officers through ground enquiries and images from police cameras.

Both victims were conscious when taken to hospital.

Three of the men, aged between 21 and 23, will be charged in court on Saturday with voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons.

If convicted, they face imprisonment of up to seven years, or with a fine, or with caning, or with any combination of such punishments.

Investigations against the remaining 23-year-old are ongoing.

Residents of private estates will testify that police cars and vans have been seen parked with lights and engines off. A few officers can be seen inside eating and drinking; to be fair, they could be on their break in between routine patrolling.

Two men fight each other at Johor checkpoint over allegation of cutting queue, probe on

Two men were captured in a video fighting at the checkpoint in Johor Bahru (JB) after one of them allegedly tried to cut queue. The video, uploaded on April 9, has since gone viral on Facebook.

The one-minute video has already garnered almost two million views.

The video shows two men, one in yellow and the other in green, throwing punches at each other at Bangunan Sultan Iskandar in JB.

The conflict allegedly began when the man in yellow got upset seeing the other man cut the queue to board the bus, according to China Press.

The men seemed oblivious to the crowd of commuters around them, and even appeared to hit a lady beside them.

They punched each other in the head, with the man in yellow eventually managing to pin the other man against a bus.

The fight continued as commuters stood and watched, until one man calmly stepped forward to intervene and separate the two men.

More onlookers joined to break up the fight, with bus conductors also restraining the men.

The man in yellow tried to resist and continued shouting angrily at the other man.

A police report was filed on Thursday by a 21-year-old man, according to a statement released by the Johor Bahru South police.

"Initial investigations found that the incident occurred because one of the individuals involved is believed to have cut the line, thus sparking a physical altercation," said district police chief Raub Selamat.

If convicted, the individuals involved face a jail term of up to six months, a fine of RM1,000 (S$299) or both.

Plastic chairs fly during nine-person brawl at Ang Mo Kio coffee shop, three arrested

SINGAPORE, Jan 18 — Three men have been arrested for affray following a violent altercation in Ang Mo Kio, Singapore late last night.

According to The Straits Times, the incident occurred outside a coffee shop at 181 Ang Mo Kio Avenue 6, with police receiving an alert at approximately 11:55pm.

The arrested individuals, aged between 33 and 40, were involved in the disturbance which saw several people engaged in a physical confrontation, the report added.

A 40-year-old man and a 36-year-old woman were both conscious when transported to Khoo Teck Puat Hospital for treatment, the Singapore Civil Defence Force confirmed to The Straits Times.

Two other individuals were assessed for minor injuries but declined hospitalisation.

A 33-second video of the brawl, shared on the Facebook page Beh Chia Lor — Singapore Road, shows around nine people, including two women, taking part in the fracas.

In the footage, a man wearing a dark green shirt appears to shield another person, only to be struck on the head with a plastic chair by another man in a light green top. The chair breaks upon impact, scattering shards across the ground.

As the altercation escalates, other individuals join in, with one man trying to intervene by blocking blows with additional plastic chairs.

A woman is also seen sprawled on the ground in the middle of the chaos, while another woman can be heard repeatedly shouting, "Stop fighting, stop fighting!" in an attempt to de-escalate the situation.

The fight ends when one of the men notices a bystander filming the incident.

He points towards the camera and shouts, “Enough! Photos are being taken!”

Police are continuing their investigations into the incident.
