The caption reads: “The women World Marathon Record is faster than our Singapore Men’s National Record by 9 minutes.”

And who holds that national record?

Mr Soh Rui Yong, who attained a timing of 2:23:42 at the Seoul International Marathon held last March.

Surely they can’t have been talking about anyone else, right?

dedicate tis song 2 dat malik ...

With our kiasu system fostered by the PAP government where getting good grades and good jobs is the national obsession, it is already a big achievement for people to excel in athletics. Losing out to women in other sporting countries well-known for producing world class athletes especially distance running is certainly no shame. This Malik guy reveals his PAP credentials so gayly and openly in FaceBook. What a clown!

To be fair, sinkies don't have the African running gene in their blood.

You cannot run so fast in our weather. Those overseas marathon are run at maybe less than 10 deg C.

One of the nation’s biggest marathons – the Standard Chartered Kuala Lumpur Marathon – has been ranked dead last in a global ranking of major marathons.
According to the ranking by The Sole Supplier, a UK-based trainer review and news site, the Standard Chartered Kuala Lumpur Marathon scored just 3.69 over 10 – the lowest score out of 81 marathons worldwide.
This was largely due to air pollution, a hot climate, slow average finish times and a lack of medical aid along the course, it said.
Other marathons at the bottom of the list include IDBI Federal Life Insurance New Delhi Marathon (second-worst) and StanChart’s Singapore marathon (third-worst)

In an article published on November 27, The Sole Supplier said the ranking considers factors such as air quality, altitude, average finish times, average temperature and rainfall, starting entry fees, refreshment stations, medical aid, and toilets, among others.

It warned that the Delhi and Singapore marathons should “also be approached with caution”.

Singapore’s iteration of the Standard Chartered Marathon was most recently criticised for choosing to hold the race on one of the busiest nights of the nation’s year-end holiday season.

The Singapore marathon, which was held at night for the first time last Saturday, caused hours of massive traffic gridlock in the city centre. Needless to say, Singapore’s road users were not pleased.
