Man gets 10 weeks' jail after fist fight with another man at Changi Airport over a woman
SINGAPORE — A district court has sentenced a man to 10 weeks' jail for severely injuring another man, who accused him of having an affair with his wife, in a fight at Changi Airport.On Wednesday (Nov 2), Tan Chee Hou, 42, was also fined S$2,000. He had pleaded guilty on Oct 14 to a charge each of causing grievous hurt to Lim Yong Tat, and committing affray in a public place.
For his part, Lim, 38, had pleaded guilty on Aug 13 last year to one charge of disturbing the public peace by fighting with Tan, and was fined S$2,000 for his offence.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Keith Jieren Thirumaran told the court that the altercation between the two men happened on the morning of March 18 last year at Changi Airport Terminal 1.
At that time, Lim’s then-wife, Ms Xu Wei, a 34-year-old Chinese national, was preparing to take a flight back to her home country.

Though they were undergoing divorce proceedings at the time, Lim still wanted to see her off before her flight.But when he arrived at the airport, Lim saw that Tan was with Ms Xu and he suspected that she was having an affair with him.
Lim then confronted Tan, and questioned why he was with Ms Xu, which led to a verbal dispute between the two men.
DPP Thirumaran said that Lim eventually lost his temper and attacked Tan’s face once.
Tan retaliated by repeatedly punching Lim in the face at least 13 times before airport staff intervened and pulled the men away from each other.
As a result of the fight, Lim suffered multiple injuries to his left eye — which included a fracture — swelling on his right cheek and abrasions to his chest and bloodied right ear, among other injuries.
