34 per cent of workers in Singapore expressed concerns about job security in the next three months, according a survey by NTUC.

NTUC shared this from their Survey on Economic Sentiments 2025, and said it would “scale up efforts” to support workers here.

Another report by the World Economic Forum (WEF) also found that 70 per cent of Singapore's workforce would need to undergo upskilling or reskilling by 2030, with six in 10 Singapore firms identifying skills gaps as barriers to their business transformation efforts.

At an NTUC press conference on Feb. 13, NTUC Secretary-General Ng Chee Meng shared NTUC's initiatives to enhance workers' job security and career development opportunities ahead of the Budget Statement, which will be delivered on Feb. 18.

The Company Mentorship Circle (CMC)

One such initiative announced was the Company Mentorship Circle (CMC), a new pilot initiative aimed at enhancing workers' career progression.

CMC is aimed to support PMEs and companies through career mentoring and guidance.

NTUC and its affiliated unions will connect unionised companies with the 1,200 mentors and experienced industry leaders in the NTUC Mentors Network, who will provide skills and career guidance to workers in these companies.

The initiative will also help strengthen a workplace culture of continuous learning and development for workers, NTUC said.

The CMC enhances the existing NTUC Executive Mentorship Programme, which has benefited over 146 mentees over three pilot runs.

These efforts aim to provide holistic support for PMEs.

NTUC said it has a base of 1,200 mentors to support various mentorship programmes.

Other initiatives

"To address the challenges ahead, NTUC is taking proactive steps to strengthen its digital innovation and develop tools to enhance workers' employability and job security, including PMEs’," said Ng.

The union also added that it is working with companies to transform their businesses and improve their productivity, ensuring better wages, welfare, and work prospects.

One way NTUC does this is through the Company Training Committee (CTC) Grant that has benefited more than 7,400 workers with real wage increases, structured career pathways through the Career Development Plan, and skills allowances.

NTUC's e2i also successfully placed over 29,000 jobseekers in 2024, with a virtual coach initiative introduced last year to enhance e2i’s career advisory and job matching services.

The union also added that through scaled-up efforts to support PMEs, and the expansion of NTUC's e2i's network across 27 centres in Singapore, job placements for PMEs —including skilled technicians — rose from 8,800 to 17,000 between 2023 and 2024.

The percentage of PME jobseekers approaching NTUC's e2i between Q4 2023 and Q4 2024 has also increased from 45 per cent to 61 per cent, NTUC said.

Working closely with tripartite partners

NTUC is also working closely with the government and employers to help bridge the gap between the workforce's needs and the labour market's demands.

This is done through initiatives include the Skills Future Jobseeker Support scheme, Platform Workers Act, Tripartite Guidelines on Flexible Work Arrangement Requests, and Workplace Fairness Legislation.

NTUC said on Feb. 13:

"The tripartite partnership is crucial in tackling issues such as job security, upskilling, workers' well-being, and fair wages while addressing broader social challenges, such as caregiving responsibilities amid an ageing population, better support for lower-wage workers, and the need for better access to job opportunities for PMES.”

"Together with our tripartite partners, we empower our workers and ensure they are well-supported and remain resilient in their career journeys," NTUC added.

Winter Is Coming

A top Indian fund manager’s warning on market excesses has gotten under everyone’s skin, fund managers and investors alike. It’s a sign that a stocks winter may be coming that will test, among many other things, their faith in each other.

This is the “most dangerous year from a 10-year point of view,” Sankaran Naren, chief investment officer at ICICI Prudential AMC, the nation’s second-biggest money manager, said in a now-viral speech at an industry event last week.

Be great full. If not for NTUC hard work it be 69%.

A staggering 95% of jobs created in 2023 and 89% in 2022 went to foreigners.

NTUC can't even abolish the CECA agreement to help local PMET, can't even stop the companies recruiting CECA Indians to displace locals, what can do to stop the locals being retrenched? Upgrade skill training?
NTUC can't even stop FairPrice selling goods more expensive than other supermarkets !

S'poreans are aware that SkillsFuture prepares us for a life of underemployment and continued unemployment after retrenchment.

NTUC is a fake labour union, and Mothershit is a propaganda mouthpiece of the PAP regime.

Understand these two self-evident truths and ignore the noise.
