SINGAPORE - A 50-year-old woman has landed the coveted job of a driver-cum-nanny on Sentosa Cove, which comes with a high $4,500 monthly salary, reported Lianhe Wanbao.
According to the Chinese evening daily, the woman, whose identity remains unknown, was picked from 200 applicants.
An advertisement posted by a recruitment agency had appeared on online jobs portal JobsDB in Dec last year.
The requirements of the job included "looking after a 7-year-old girl, driving her to and from school, light housekeeping and admin duties", and cooking.
The nanny would need to live in the house on Sentosa Cove from Monday to Saturday, with an off day on Sunday. It added that "only Singaporeans need apply".
The recruitment agency told Wanbao that the ad had attracted 200 applications within a month. They were women aged between 21 and 56. However, not all of them made the cut.
Only three suitable applicants were selected and recommended to the client, said the agency. One was rejected after the client took a look at all three resumes.
According to the agency, the client interviewed the 50-year-old woman last Friday and hired her on the spot after a two-hour interview.
The woman reportedly requested to start work after the Lunar New Year, but the family allowed her to commence in the middle of February.
The agency told Wanbao that it is only a verbal agreement and both parties have yet to sign the contract. It added that there will be a three-month probation, after which the client may decide whether to continue with her services.
The agency refused to divulge more about the identity of the woman, but says she stood out because of her experience, and she fit the bill when it came to what the client required.
