SINGTEL is giving subscribers 72 hours of free mio TV access to make up for a major breakdown that left thousands of subscribers without service over three days. The problem had begun on Mar 1, at about 6am.

The disruption in service upset many readers, who had complained about being left in the dark about the problem and its resolution. According to a Singtel spokesperson, the problem had been due to a 'suspected software bug'.

A spokesperson for Singtel told STOMP:

"As a result of a suspected software bug, about 6 per cent or 10,000 of our MIO TV customers experienced service disruption earlier this week. The problem has been rectified and we offer our sincere apologies to those affected.

"As a goodwill gesture, all MIO TV customers will enjoy 72 hours, round-the-clock free viewing of all broadcast channels (Subscription video-on-demand channels such as US TV Packs are not included in this offer) from Friday (Mar 19) 12.01 am to Sunday midnight (Mar 21), during the school holidays.

"This includes the Mei Ah Drama Channel as well as Asia?s first lifestyle HD Channel, Li TV which features the best of Food, Home, Wellness, Travel and Style programming.

"More information about the channels can be found at www.singtel.com/miotv."

Free what for if customer dont want to use it. Later addicted customer will have to pay more.

I say, MIO got nothing on its channels worth watching leh, give junk channels as good will gestures? good move!

Gives you free channels but breaks down when you are watching them...

Singtel should have make a rebate. For every day down one week fee waive. For 3 day mean 3 week to be fair to both party.
Some consumer lost more than what is worth for 3 day free mio TV even more than 3 month fee.
All must gather together to sue Singtel.

I use Singnets broadband services. When they offered offered a FREE trial with MIO I declined. Nothing in Spore is free & good :D
