Those old letters were re-mailed recently, says SingPost

I REFER to the Forum Online feedback by Madam Ann Tan last Saturday, 'Letter mailed in 2005, returned this month'.

We have since contacted her to find out more information. Our investigation findings revealed that the two letters were re-posted recently. Regrettably, we are not able to establish the actual cause of the delayed posting.

We wish to assure all readers and Madam Tan that SingPost takes its mail service seriously. We subject our delivery standards to stringent regular internal audits and external independent audits every month, and have consistently achieved more than 99 per cent delivery by next working day for mail posted within the Central Business District (CBD) and 98 per cent outside the CBD. SingPost will do its best to deliver all mail items, failing which the mail will be returned to the sender, if there is a return address.

We thank Madam Tan for her feedback. For any feedback on our mail delivery services, members of the public can call their area's delivery base via the telephone number indicated on the letterbox or our hotline 1605.

Remember when sending a registered letter to the US which got lost. When the letter didn't reach the US address I found out SingPost knew about 'problems' but didn't bother to notify me :(

They only refunded the cost of cancelling the cheque that got lost.

'Letter mailed in 2005, returned this month' where did the letter go, for four years?

I remember some years ago, there was a postman, who kept all the letters at home, instaed of putting them in the respective letter boxes...now with private sub contractors delivering your letters, they may bring them home.......who knows?..but lost in mail 2005...turn up 2009!

Thank god for email

Still remember when Spore had mail deliveries done twice a day, in the morning & afternoon. Back then there was efficiency in Spore, unlike todays where its all about squeezing the last cent from people
