Today, i went to the Post Office to buy the zodiac calender year of the TIGER postage stamps, new issu on January 8, 2010.

The counter girl, did not not what is a new stamps issue, nevr mind about that, then the next counter girl told her, it is those stack of things given to her this morning are the new issues.

She then gave me the entire stack and told me to take what I wanted, for she does not know, what they are.

So, i chose the First Day Cover, (FDC), the Miniature Sheet ( Mini Sht), and I ask for two sets of stamps issued for the day.

She looked at me puzzled, STAMPS?..what Stamps. I told her, today new stamps issue , i want two sets.

She excused herself, and went in to the office, ten minutes she came with the Post mistress, who brough out the stamps, in the sheelet of 10 for each denominations.

I told the post mistress, what I wanted. The counter girl is new, she was guided in keying in FDC x 1, Msht x 1, 2 x stamps of 1 value each...and i ask for a 10 stamps sheet of first local ( Tiger), and another perplexing look from both..you mean you want ten stamps of 1st local... by then, I was gasping for...

Anyway, they totalled correctly..paid & went off.

Any bona fide Post Office staff will know, what are stamps, (sets of), FDC, M sht, booklets etc..

The counter staff are selling rice cookers, MP3 players, insurance etc...

They do not sell stamps anymore..and do not bother to ask anymore. I should be buying them on-line...etc..:p

Is this the standard the SINKingpore Post Office had become?, where in the past, i can say hi to the counter girl, know the post master or mistress, and they call out your name..and know what you want to buy from stamps to anything else at the Post Office..

Is this the service standard we are getting???

Actually I use singpost counter services quite often, and they are usually quite efficient and polite.
You might have encountered a new staff or a part timer.

Maybe they r still unhappy becos someone vandalised their post box?

I have using the post office since I was able to learn to read & write..and had known the Post Office...

This is not an isolated case, I have encountered previous occasions, on buying stamps...they do not know what is one set of stamps of a particular stamp issues..."you mean 1 sheet of stamps"? of a particular denomination..in the past the counter staff, would not the value of each stamp issue..

The issue here is stamps..not the other services which ranges from efficient & down right robotic...

:p

For the students in the school who fail to memorise the dictations/spellings, she will be caned on her buttocks.

Why not to cane the girl to improve the quality of the service?
