What do you think of Singaporeans as customers? Do they behave the same, better or worse than customers of other nationalities?
What about Singaporeans as servers? e.g. waiters, counter staff, retail staff, customer service, etc? Is it true that Singaporeans don't like to be servers and hence companies have to recruit from overseas? Or is this bullshit and companies are hiring from overseas to cut costs?

I cannot speak for the whole SGP population but I can speak for myself. :)

Whether I am the customer or not, I always believe that a certain amount of manners should be shown towards the staffs who are serving me. :D

Service staff? I used to be working as one, although it's not for long, but what I see is that the hours are long, you have to be on your feet the whole day, and you get abuses from unruly customers. Of course, the pay I wouldn't say that is too little, but just that SGP is too costly to live in.

I would have to agree with your comments about being a customer. I always try to be a polite and non-troublesome customer and very rarely kick up a fuss except when someone really pisses me off. I just saw a Singaporean couple behaving like a king and queen at a cafe, must admit that I simply sat there and watched the show.

It's the same in every country.
Only 2 type customer: Gracious or Rude.

Serve or be served.

You are right, I am graciously rude!...like the old British!..with the stiff upper lips!!

You are either gracious or rude, or you serve somebody or be served by somebody...

MONEY!...talks the loudest..and the rudest commodity!!...:D

I used to tell rude customers off in the past. After I realized that even the staff is looking at me in a weird manner, like I'm some form of alien even when I'm speaking up on his/her behalf, it's not going anywhere and I stopped doing so.

Now that makes you wonder why retail or service staffs are not so willing to display their names on the name tags. :D
