The truth is:

1. Shanghai is many times bigger than Singapore
2. China has the world's longest High Speed Railway network with as of January 2016 over 19,000 km (12,000 mi) of track. High-speed rail service in China was introduced on April 18, 2007 and has become immensely popular with an annual ridership of over 1.1 billion in 2015. SG is struggling to maintain its miniscule SMRT with regular breakdowns and signalling problems
3. China has gone to space. Singapore has abandoned its SpacePort project at Changi
4. China is trying to develop the Kra Isthmus Canal, Singapore's NOL has gone bankrupt
5. China is building a rail, road connection to Middle East, Singapore tries to build Project Jewel at Changi
6. China has a system that produces world Table Tennis champions, Singapore can only struggle to buy 3rd rate, China's rejects
7. USA is afraid of China, Singapore is afraid of USA

I wish the pap is more realistic and humble abt their achievements and dont make themselves the laughing stock by claiming that China is learning from Singapore

China did pick up quite a few tricks from Singapore from the early 80s to late 90s. They have moved on since then. Just look at the way the Nanjing eco-city is being portrayed by our media, a normal arm's length real estate FDI is being presented as if Singapore has bleeding edge technology in green environmental planning that we are graciously imparting to the Chinese. No serious independent observer believes this nonsense.
