Singapore to provide full scholarships to Myanmar students in technology

Three universities of Singapore will provide full scholarships to Myanmar students for them to pursue in technological field as part of Singapore's aid to help the country develop human resources in the sector, sources with the education circle said on Thursday.

Offered by the Nanyang Technological University (NTU), National University of Singapore (NUS) and Singapore Management University (SMU), the scholarship winning students are to attend full-time undergraduate degree course on nine technological major subjects in the 2010-11 academic year.

There have been some Singapore institutes extending such scholarships to Myanmar students. These institutes include MDIS , ERC, Nanyang Institute of Management (NIM), PSB Academy and TMC Private College of International and TMC Academy.

The scholarships cover those for pursuing master degree or diplomas in tourism and hospitality management, finance, economy and computer game creation, journalism, mass communications, public relations, accounting and finance, international business management and marketing, logistics management, e-business and e- commerce, construction management and property.

Not sure if this is a good move. If the students are against the military regime, sg will not appear as benefactors as sg is indirectly supporting the regime. If the students are supporters of the regime, when one day the regime is toppled, the investment will go down the drain and the gesture will not be appreciated.

I hope the government is betting on the right horse. But if the record is like that of Temasek then probably habis.

Singapore scholarship has no value and so is our pink IC now. Nothing to boast about. Only 3rd world citizens would buy it, 1st world like american has no interest in our scholarship since this is a degree mill cuntry.
