So just moved back to Singapore after spending most of my life in the UK.
I was actually born and raised there and it’s been really difficult adapting to the norms and culture here so far.
I do enjoy being here more and more though. The food, the people and weather is brilliant compared to back in the UK.
My only issue right now is how people look at me when I start to talk. I feel like they look at me in disgust or are just weirded out by the fact that someone like them speaks with such a rich accent.
Am I overthinking this, I almost feel like I don’t belong here at times. I’m trying to learn some singlish though and hopefully I’ll be good at that over time.

I speak with a posh English accent because I watched too many 007 films.

He is welcomed on Sammyboy forum. I'm sure Claire would be happy to find a British-sounding linguistic opponent worthy of her attention.

Ignore the low SES losers and embrace your linguistic superiority. Kids these days and their humblebrag. Want to drive a lambo to a class chalet at downtown east, then ask why people so mean, look at him weird.

Rich accent?, Go fuck yourself. Go back to UK and work in a Chinese restaurant. Kay Ah Moh.
