SO THEY won their freedom of speech.
A proposal to stop the Singapore Recreation Club's 5,500 members from talking to the media about club matters fell through at its annual general meeting yesterday.
The proposal called for disciplinary action against those who speak to the press, or circulate or publish writings about the club, its members and staff, without approval from the management committee.
The resolution was overturned by 405 to 286 votes. It needed a two-thirds majority vote to be passed.
Members cheered and clapped when the result was announced yesterday evening at the Raffles City Convention Centre where the meeting was held.
More than 1,100 members turned up, of whom 774 were voting members. The meeting last year was attended by 476 voting members.
They think Singapore is in the dark ages . We need open transparency .
Gag order is for people beating around the bush and got lots to hide .
