Singapore Prime minister should be elected by the masses and not appointed!

Though Hsien Loong is not an elected PM of singapore, he is behaving like Singapore belongs to him.

If a PM can call for war or call for the 10-billion SAF action, it is dangerous to just places Hsien Loong at the Istana.

if there is Presidential election, there should be PM election becos PM makes decisions for the public and talk on behalf of the people.

I think Hsien Loong can be a good math teacher but being a PM for singapore is not a good choice.

If Hsien Loong is not replaced quickly, the PAP system will fail jialatly, singapore will go to the dogs.

Singapore is clicking.......think about it, if 10-billion SAF can cut to 5 billion, healthcare and education in singapore will be free for local singaporeans.

A Flower hardly blooms for a hundred days. All the wayangs by the PAP baboons and skunks, and dogs will come to a tragic end.

If the PM is directly elected by the voters, do you see a sutation where the PM is a member of a minority party. So he won't get any body to support him in parliament to pass laws. Do you want to have such a party?

As it is, the President is already directly elected by the people, and there are safeguard to ensure that no Tom, Dict and Harry is elected to such high office.

I understand that in so-called democratic country like the Philippines, there are hundreds of candidates vying for a seat in the constituency. Most of the electorates don't even know the candidates - saved the film star or TV presenters or newsreaders - and they will be voted in. The next candidate sure to win will be boxing champion Manny Pacquiao.

What cock you talking? Singaporeans live in a city and are far more aware and educated than ASEAN neighbors. Stop the cheebye strawman arguments.

If the PM is elected by the voters, it is democracy.

If the parliament don't pass the laws, people who vote got feelings even if they are blind and deaf.

Even if it had to be by form of election, I'm not surprised that all the other running candidates will be disqualified, leaving only 1 man standing.

I like Presidential system but in lots of countries, The President form his cabinet and his ministers got no mandate at all from the peasants. That's what I don't like.
Parliamentary system is party-based. You are voting for the party who will chose their own PM to head the govt. So if you don' t like the PM, don't vote for the party.

and if you don't like LHL, don't vote for PAP next GE as he is PAP leader and chosen PM.

Please in other countries, the democratic process does not begin and end on polling. During the term of the administration, the sitting president, cabinet ministers can be investigated and indicted.

A strong opposition challenges unfair policies.

In Sg, the government is basically untouchable until the next polling day. Besides, many ministers and MPs simply stroll into parliament on a walkover too. I won't call that a mandate from the people.
