The watering down of sentences "because NUS student got great future, so must not jail" and dilution of murder charge at Orchard Towers to become a minor case of skirmish. These two instances sent out all the wrong signals. It emboldened this doctor to wrongly imprison the woman in his home and then beat her up until her face was fractured. At the back of his mind, he has what ex-DPM Tharman said was a sense of ENTITLEMENT. Surely they won't convict a "doctor". Very high status, you know? Doctors can beat people up. Doctors are above the law. He expects to pay a small fine and the police & court will close the case. He thought he was so clever to take pills with alcohol, so he can claim he "cannot remember". What so smart, even thought beforehand of all the legal loopholes. Well, first of all, he must not be allowed to practice as a doctor. He must be struck off the register of doctors. There must be caning. Since he loves violence. Thus let him be at the receiving end of violence. There must be a long sentence. maybe a few decades in jail.

These are the type of doctors you will get if the qualifications were all fast accelerated with hugh amounts of money sponsored by his parents, resulting in an entitled brat and an unworthy "Doctor" . Just look at the number of professionals in the medical industries who have been caught up with the law lately. Including foreigners and locals. Please check and recheck their qualifications as it is really easy for foreigners to pay for good aggregates and certs in their local countries.
