Mobile data billing shock

<!-- by line --><!-- end by line -->
<!-- end left side bar --><!-- story content : start -->I HAVE always had faith in SingTel's billing system. But I was shocked to see my latest mobile bill, dated June 23, which came to a whopping $482.69.
After going through the bill, I realised that the amount of $365.88 was billed for the usage of mobile data (71.4609MB).
I had applied for a 1GB mobile data usage plan some time in March. And after going through my April and May bills, I realised I was billed incorrectly then too.
I called up customer service to clarify the matter. They verified it and admitted their mistake.
I wonder if it was a system or human error that resulted in the incorrect billing.

Same thing happen to my colleague. He was eligible for a handset upgrade and so he took a free handphone and also upgrading his sim card to 3G at the same time. But he never using the new handphone or sim card because he has another handphone. When the bill came he was shocked because they charge him over $200 when he should be paying around $38 only.

He complaining to the telco and threaten to making police report. Then they waive the charges and say mistake by the billing department. But another friend working inside the same telco say the case happening because my colleague handphone number was cloned by someone whom they suspecting to be the handphone shop assistant but they cannot be admitting this to my colleague so they are waiving his bill.

Never never buy handphone at those small shop/ authorize shop.
Only buy/sign contract at the Telco shop. eg Singtel Hello/MI/Starhub under their own management.
