SINGAPORE: One candy shop at Clarke Quay decided to put an end to candy snatchers with a little help from social media.

Sticky Candy, which is located at The Central, caught a man stealing rock candy costing S$50 on its CCTV footage.

The shop then uploaded the video onto their Facebook page, where it has more than 96,000 fans.

The very next day, the man returned to the shop to confess his crime and pay up.

The shop said it has noticed a rise in the sticky situation with at least three or four people a week unable to control their need for a sugar rush.

Sticky Candy owner, Jamie Lim, said: "One of his family members told him it was him in the video and that he took a bottle of candy. It was causing quite an uproar on our fan page.

"Eventually he came down and he paid for it and he actually said that he did not have any intention to steal but rather he was distracted by his friend so I believed him and just let the matter go."
