Shop owner stabbed to death by robber
IPOH: A sundry shop owner was killed after he was stabbed in the chest in a tussle with robber.
R. Muniandy, 64, died while being rushed to a private hospital, following the 9pm incident at Taman Perpaduan here on Wednesday.
Relating the incident in between sobs, R. Devi, 60, said she was counting the day’s collection when a man dashed into the shop and snatched the money.
“I shouted for help and my husband, who was at the back of the shop at that time, rushed out to help me,” she said.
Muniandy caught the suspect as he was about to get into a car and the robber retaliated by stabbing him.
“My husband died when a neighbour and I was getting him to the hospital,” said Devi.
The couple have five children.
Acting Perak police chief Senior Asst Datuk Zakaria Yusof confirmed the incident, saying the police are looking for the suspect and an accomplice.
