Video footage captures the moment a US soldier is dragged from an aircraft when his reserve parachute accidentally opens.
A paratrooper has been sucked out of a plane when his parachute accidentally opened in mid-flight.
The soldier was crouching on the ramp of a C-130 Hercules plane when his rip cord caught on part of the aircraft, triggering his reserve parachute.
He was dragged from the plane within two seconds as shocked colleagues watched helplessly from the freight bay.
A spokesman for the US 5th Special Forces Group said the paratrooper escaped unhurt and landed around 30 miles from the intended drop zone.
It is not known where the accident happened or how high the Hercules was flying at the time.
However, the aircraft - which is around 30 metres long and has a wingspan of more than 40 metres - can reach an altitude of some 32,000ft.
It would have been flying at up to 310 knots (356mph).
