Joining pappy worshippers like Syu Ying Kwok and Ace Kindred Cheong, Shameless Workers' Party CEC member Yaw Shin Leong having openly bragged about voting for PAP MP Teo Ho Pin, now goes on to bootlick his pappy masters on F1. WHAT A SHAMELESS BASTARD!

Well Done Singapore (PAP)

I refer to TODAY’s report ‘Singapore at its best’ (PM on F1, 29th September 2008).

From the perspectives of strategic business posturing and successful event organization, it was indeed Singapore at our best.

It was an excellent opportunity to showcase Singapore’s economic achievements and fortifying our lion city's brand name.

Cheerios to the organizers, volunteers, sponsors, fans, F1 teams and security people who had made this fabulous event possible.

Let’s build upon this experience and strive towards an ‘even better’ best F1 2009. Well Done Singapore (PAP)!

Yesterday when I drove past Beach Road towards ECP heading home,
there was a long queue of trucks, lorries, cars waiting to get in to Marina Centre..and that was way past midnight, at least 2 hours after the race ended..

success???at whose expense may I ask?

ask the writer to tell that to the many small time biz owners and shop keepers who suffered losses as a result of the road closures

and also ask the writer to tell dat to all the people who had to work overtime so as to give the RICH and ELITE a chance to enjoy themselves..

Oh my goodness! What the hell is YSL talking about now?

1. Showcase Singapore's economic achievements?

Sure, Singapore has certainly grown economically, but the income gap has been widening greatly due to influx of cheap foreigners who take jobs away from working class Singaporeans, and keep wages at the lower end of the spectrum depressed. The poor, aged and lower income are all suffering from the ravages of inflation and high prices. SHOWCASE SINGAPORE'S ECONOMIC ACHIEVEMENTS MY FOOT! The whole event is just a showcase for the rich and elite!

2. Fortify Lion City's brand name?

This comment surely takes the cake! Our brand name has been eroded by the PAP which goes about suppressing dissent and silencing its critics via frivolous defamation suits. Our international standing is constantly being called into questioned because of the PAP's dictatorial practices. Even the International Bar Association has published a 72-page report criticizing our rule of law. How can a mere F1 race which is but a mere plaything for the rich and well connected be a fortification for our national branding?

I am very disappointed that WP candidate and joint OS Yaw Shin Leong has made such a shallow post.

Shin Leong is my friend, and he has the right to state an opinion even if we disagree with it.

In my opinion, if he has a different opinion about it, he has the right to do so. However it doesn't mean that we have to agree with it. Its up to people to judge, and thus whatever happens, he knows that not everyone will agree with him.

I only disagree with the F1 race being here for financial reasons and for common sense, and that's what I think is more important than just prestige. After all you can't buy reputation, and you can't buy prestige- especially when it comes to the longer term.

Just like bootlickers Syu Ying Kwok and Ace Kindred Cheong, this shameless bastard Yaw is just parroting his pappy master's words. Notice the similarities on what LHL had said abt F1:

http://www.todayonline.com/articles/278600.asp

IT WAS Singapore at its best, according to Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong. At trackside during the race, Mr Lee was not referring, however, to the Formula 1 race here, or its organisation.
.
Instead, after watching television coverage of the event on Friday and Saturday, the sights of the city were what caught his eye.
.
The pictures I’ve been watching on TV for the last couple of days — not watching the cars, but the skyline. The skyline shows ... and we see Singapore at its best. And I think it’s a city we can be proud of,” he told reporters at the Paddock Club as F1 cars whizzed by outside.
.
The feedback so far has been good, he said in response to questions.
.
“I think the participants, the teams are very happy. The visitors who have come here are very impressed with what we’ve been able to do in a very short period of time. And I think there is buzz because there’s a lot of attention, interest,” said Mr Lee, who came back to the visuals on TV of a city “which is vibrant, working”.
.
“There’s one picture, where the cars are racing and on top of that, you have the Benjamin Sheares Bridge and other people, normal cars are driving on as the cars are racing underneath. It’s quite a unique scene; very few places in the world you will see that.”
.
The buzz from the publicity, not just among participants here or racing fans, will benefit Singapore “in many ways”, he added. For example, many corporate clients of the Economic Development Board who are investing in Singapore “have a special interest” in F1.
.
Asked about the interest among Singaporeans, Mr Lee said: “I think there’s a lot of following among the locals. Singaporeans have volunteered to help to run this place and ... I think many of them are (F1) enthusiasts.”

It is another lop-sided and shallow article from TODAY as usual.

The F1 racing only benefit the rich, the PAP and of course high class escorts.

Read in the Chinese paper that one local starlet is paid $40,000 for 6 hours to accompany a billionaire !!!

What they do during this period of time is anybody's guess.

As the race goes on, our poor elderly continue to pick cardboards for a living.

Shame shame on the PAP and of course its No 1 "opposition" supporter - Yaw Shin Leong.

Dear Latest

Ohhh I have called for YSL to resign over his "vote" issue so in no way I can be consider as biased. However this whole issue reeks somewhat of hypocrisy and double standards masquerading as political ideologues and puritans.

1. La Mei's rails against the inconvnience because she drives :_)) I take the public transport and borrow rides and she rails against the F1 as an event for the rich and the elites ? I believe the inconviencies suffered thus far by all Singaporeans concerned are a worthwhile sacrifice to host a global brand name event. I hope that F1 in Singapore becomes a permanent fixture.

2. Ejay's rails against YSL because he views F1 as highlighting Singapore's economic success. He lists in detail how Singapore has failed economically in terms of ensuring equitable growth. Simply put he wants to rail and rant against the growing in any way of the economic pie until he sees the succuess as being shared equally. For me its rather more simple, celebrate anything that grows the damm pie and argue to hell about how to divide the growing pie later. Its always better to be a poor man in a rich country than a poor man in a poor country.

3. Ejay's the political puritan views F1 as an evil and not worth celebrating because we do not have complete full civil and political rights. I guess for him hosting and celebrating the Youth Olympics will not be in order because we do not have have full civl and political rights, or any event of international stature and status. I hold that view point to be utterly small minded and petty. F1 fans are of all sorts, rich famous, branding he fails to understand comes not only from those that attend but those who view TV and in news reports. If we see F1 as part an parcel of an economic blueprint that includes integrated resorts, wealth management and financial services, and manufacturing then the whole value equation makes sense policy wise

Dear La

I take the bus and the MRT and I am happy to see all the foreigners in town all dressed in their F1 gear :_)) . Its just a week of F1 madness which I have borne with in terms of the public transport, well worth the price in my view. I can only hope that more Singaporeans drivers, non drivers aside will take the inconvnience in their stride as a price worth having for F1
