In my opinion, Singapore's real and lasting sporting hero is Ang Peng Siong.
I couldn't helped be touched by the article in the newspapers about how Ang trained and helped the paralympic swimmers.
He was a great swimmer in his heyday and has become a great coach after his swimming career.
Doesn't say much, doesn't get in the news for the wrong reasons, speaks and behaves humbly, focused on helping his trainees and his sport.
The only bad thing I've heard about him (from one of the forummers here) is that he speaks in a rather boring manner. That's entirely forgivable, based on what he has done for Singapore and his character and lifestyle.
