What were they thinking?
First, a netizen came across a nude picture of a Singaporean girl on her profile page in the online social networking site Friendster.
Just one day later, another Singporean girl's nude pictures were cast into the limelight. This time, the nude pictures seem to have been taken at a HDB stariwell.
'A simple girl'
AsiaOne did a check and found the Friendster profile page in question belonging to a 21-year-old Singaporean girl who goes by the name Faith Ong.
There were a total of seven pictures in her profile's photo gallery, and the last one was of her naked and apparently changing out of her clothes.
Faith stated in her online profile that she is "a simple girl born to lead a simple life" and does not "wish for fame or lead a life with a lot of money".
She also states that she is only looking for female companions as she had "lost hope for guys".
Since Faith's Friendster profile pictures were published in STOMP, the online social networking site has suspended the account.
Taken at HDB stairwell
We were also alerted to a second set of pictures found on a Chinese online forum.
The pictures show a young woman in various poses at what seems to be the stairwell of a HDB flat.
In one of the pictures, a sign that says '13 STOREY' typical of those found in most HDB flats here, can be seen clearly.
While there was no mention if the girl in the picture was Singaporean, Netizens who let comments on the site agreed that the pictures were definitely taken locally.
An emerging trend?
Is posting nude pictures of oneself an emering trend among Singaporean youths?
Judging by some of the reactions from Netizens on the citizen journalism website STOMP, where the stories were first posted, many have expressed disappointment and disgust in these girls' actions.
STOMPer Stormzer said that Faith's actions were "a disgrace to society" and that "more young girls will follow suit" if nothing was done to stop further postings.
Many of the larger social networking sites require users to follow photo posting guidelines. Friendster's online help page states that offensive content including nudity and hteful images are not permitted. Those tho flaunt the guidelines will find their profiles put in in to a 'photo reivew' status and they will not see their uploaded images until the content is cleared by Friendster staff.
