I remember many years ago a cat stuck in a glue trap was brought to a vet for help. The cat was euthanatized. He or she was a stupid vet.
Use lots of vegetable oil. A vet in Japan recommended saw dust, which can take a much longer time to remove the glue.
Maybe shaving off the fur after a few oil baths is a good idea.
