It is with the heaviest of hearts that we share the tragic loss of our beloved Hugo, who passed away on August 19th due to the negligence of an irresponsible pet owner. We are shattered by this senseless loss and cannot bear the thought of another family enduring the same heartache. We urge everyone to share this story and help raise awareness with this serving as a stark reminder to all pet owners to take responsibility for their animals and prevent such tragedies from happening again. Please, let Hugo’s story be a catalyst for change so that no other family has to suffer as we are now.Our mother was walking Hugo, just as she had done countless times before, when another dog, uncontrolled and aggressive, charged at them from about 100m away. Despite the owner’s attempt to restrain their dog, it broke free from it’s leash and viciously attacked Hugo, shaking him violently like a ragdoll.
After numerous desperate attempts to control her dog, it eventually released Hugo, but by then, the damage was done. Hugo laid motionless on the ground, bleeding profusely. Our mother immediately called @btwyx who rushed back from work. Hugo was struggling to breathe, with blood streaming from his mouth. The lady owner and her dog had already left the scene, leaving only her husband behind as the lady called him down. Brenda, the male owner, and Hugo rushed in a Grab to the vet at @gaia_vets
Hugo was immediately taken to the emergency room. The vet said surgery was necessary, but Hugo had to be stabilized first due to his critically low blood pressure. By this time, all of us had gathered, with @hadriantay even rushing out of reservist.
With the ongoing situation and the possibility of losing Hugo, emotions ran high. We confronted the male owner (with vulgarities), but he was uncooperative and refused to provide his particulars. @hadriantay contacted @nparks_avs for assistance and was asked for his particulars again, to which he refused once more. @nparks_avs advised us to file a police report. Despite 3 police cars and 6 officers arriving, they simply took particulars and allowed the male owner to leave.
