SINGAPORE: 12 men involved in a fight at the headquarters of political party PKMS, were charged in court on Thursday.
The incident took place on 3 September 2009 at the PKMS building along Changi Road.
10 men were charged with rioting while two others were charged with rioting with a deadly weapon.
A pre-trial conference has been set for mid-April.
The fight broke after a power dispute between the party's old and new guards.
21 people were arrested on that day and four of them had to be treated at Changi General Hospital for injuries.
The fight happened when a faction went to the party's headquarters at Changi Road to physically take over.
They claimed to be part of the new Supreme council voted in at an extraordinary general meeting held in November 2008.
But the old guards never acknowledged them and refused to step down.
An annual general meeting which was to be held to sort this out never took place. -CNA/vm
