Lim Tean:
A Very Unfair Format !
I was extremely disappointed and angry at the format of the Roundtable involving 5 parties last night.
Why was the PAP allotted half of the time for replies and the other 4 parties ( PAR, WP, PSP and RDU ) had to share the other half ? That meant the opposition parties were given only 1 minute each to make their case ! This was grossly inadequate compared to the 4 minutes Chee Hong Tat had for his response to each question. He even had the luxury of reading from his Ipad ! The others only had pen and paper. I off course never read from a script. Never have in my life, not even in court when I am lawyering. All participants must be given equal response time, to be fair.
And it was never a debate or even a discussion at all. There was no interraction at all between the representatives and they were not allowed to question each other. I was looking forward to cross-examining Chee Hong Tat on the PAP’s insane GST hikes, unaffordable public housing,
mass immigration and job insecurity. Cross-examination is the greatest tool invented by mankind to uncover the truth. It is my forte and where I excel. At least in Roundtable for GE2020, participants were allowed to speak to each other and ask the PAP questions and vice versa.
So why was the format changed for last night’s Roundtable ?
