Singapore is Southeast Asia's leading source of cyberattacks

Around 21.9 million attacks originated from the country.

Singapore has emerged as the leading source of cyberattacks in Southeast Asia, with 21.9 million attacks originating from compromised servers within the country in 2024.

According to Kaspersky Security Network (KSN), this surge places Singapore first in Southeast Asia and 8th globally as a cyber threat source destination.

The number of attacks has steadily increased over the past three years, nearly doubling since 2022 when 11.1 million attacks were recorded. By 2023, the figure climbed to 17 million, before reaching its current peak.

Despite this, the country recorded the lowest number of local threats in Southeast Asia in 2024. However, local malware transmissions surged by 33.5%, reaching 2.2 million cases compared to the previous year's 1.66 million.

The primary infection vector for these local threats is removable media such as USB drives, CDs, and DVDs, particularly in workplaces, schools, and government offices.
