When I am in Bangkok, I go to Lotus or Big C and buy plastic bags for trash. Otherwise it is impossible to bring all my waste to the rubbish room on my condo floor. It would stink up the Rubbish room and a notice will appear on the condo notice board. They also charge for plastic bags in the big supermarket outlets. The small timer business still provides them foc. Sooner or later, you will get use to buying plastic bags for dumping trash.

Actually the culprit that produces the most waste nowadays is online shopping. Look at the amount of plastics, bubble wraps, packaging etc they use to pack them and deliver to consumers. It's almost criminal.
Big cities in Beijing and Shanghai have already adopted 垃圾分类. Tokyo and cities in Japan also requires this rubbish segregation thingie. Not sure why Singapore is still incinerating every damn rubbish. But one thing for sure is throwing rubbish will cost time and money in future. So for me myself, I try to consume what I need and refrain from excessive buying and shopping. Buy what one needs, less rubbish is produced and save time and money throwing away.Yes, but since plastic is not truly an environmental problem in Sg. So as long as you (the user) makes good use of all plastic packaging (including from online shopping), it's all good, not a problem. It's the Sg Govt forcing supermarkets to charge for plastic bags that's the real problem here. But one that PAP will never admit to.

we have already solved this problem in sillycon valley. for compostable trash it’s called the compostable or biodegradable grocery bag.

in sillycon valley food waste and trash go into landfill and are compacted for years if not decades until the landfill is usable again. in sg every piece of trash gets incinerated thus biodegradable bags are not important. however, some food wastes are compostable and can be recycled for plant feed or compost soil for gardening. that should be trashed in compostable bags and sold to garang guni unkers for 6.9c per lb. they then can sell to nea or an agency in minimystery of environment for 16.9c per lb. but nea or new agency or any waste recycling agency must pay lah to incentivise behavior and a mini economy of compostable waste. no monetary incentives or disincentives sinkies boh chup.Since Sg incinerates all rubbish, compostable rubbish aren't any more environmentally friendly than non-compostable rubbish.
As I said earlier in this thread :
The point is the hypocrisy of the Sg Govt in forcing all supermarkets to charge for plastic bags : they pretend (virtue signalling) it's for the environment, when you end up having to buy plastic trash bags anyway, just that you now pay double (for use at supermarkets and to buy trash bags), and it doesn't do a damn thing for the environment. The environment rationale is inherently flawed anyway : Sg incinerates all rubbish, so plastic bags are not an environmental pollution problem like in other countries.
My parents in their advance age dumped all their empty eggshells, groundnut shells, ginko nut shells, veges that can't be eaten anymore, etc etc in their garden to fertilise their mango, chiku and banana trees.in sillycon valley food waste and trash go into landfill and are compacted for years if not decades until the landfill is usable again. in sg every piece of trash gets incinerated thus biodegradable bags are not important. however, some food wastes are compostable and can be recycled for plant feed or compost soil for gardening. that should be trashed in compostable bags and sold to garang guni unkers for 6.9c per lb. they then can sell to nea or an agency in minimystery of environment for 16.9c per lb. but nea or new agency or any waste recycling agency must pay lah to incentivise behavior and a mini economy of compostable waste. no monetary incentives or disincentives sinkies boh chup.
some sinkies with land know how to compost. like the ah por next door in siglap. plants everywhere like a mini jungle. at least their chiku is sweet. their daughter’s chitsu i don’t know.My parents in their advance age dumped all their empty eggshells, groundnut shells, ginko nut shells, veges that can't be eaten anymore, etc etc in their garden to fertilise their mango, chiku and banana trees.
Honestly, I hate chikus. It has a funny taste and too sweet for my liking. The fruits on their chiku tree attract all sorts of birds and bats. If I have my way, I will chop it downsome sinkies with land know how to compost. like the ah por next door in siglap. plants everywhere like a mini jungle. at least their chiku is sweet. their daughter’s chitsu i don’t know.
