Are you prepared for extreme floods in Singapore?
Readiness, response, and recovery. These were the key elements of Resilience that participants discussed at the inaugural Community Table-top Exercise on Climate Threats, co-organised by PUB, Singapore's National Water Agency and Women in Sustainability and Environment (WISE).
️
As climate change intensifies, extreme weather events like flooding become more frequent and severe. For a low-lying city-state like Singapore, this is not a distant possibility but a fast-approaching reality that we need to be ready for.
I was encouraged by the energy and collaboration among grassroots leaders, residents, students, and businesses, who came together to discuss and prepare for flood scenarios of varying scales. Some of the ideas surfaced included innovative solutions to safeguard critical infrastructure, community-driven initiatives to support flood risk areas, and even business continuity plans

Flood preparedness is a shared responsibility, and we can build a stronger and more resilient Singapore through collective action. Whether or not you were part of this exercise, we can all contribute by staying informed on climate risks

So how do we stay prepared? Pap give us each a rubber dinghy? We buy amphibious cars? Or maybe the pap should fucking stop filling our subterrain with concrete and allow rainwater to run off the way nature intended it.
