Goldkist Beach Resort at 1110 East Coast Parkway. any bro stay there before?
Singapore's Goldkist Beach Resort named 'Dirtiest Hotel in Asia'
No room at the inn? Consider it a lucky escape.
Accolades, every hotel loves them, except when the honor is "Asia's Dirtiest Hotel."
And according to TripAdvisor's list of Asia's Dirtiest Hotels, Singapore's Goldkist Beach Resort has clinched the top dirty slot.
Of the 37 reviews logged, complaints ranged from the rude manner of the hotel staff, the overall filth -- mice droppings, moldy bathrooms, cockroach sightings -- to the absence of expected necessities such as soap.
Funnily enough though, some solicited video testimonials from Goldkist's guests seem to say otherwise.
Almost as bad is the Aspinals Hotel on Syed Alwi Road, which clinched third spot.
The 54 reviews spewed comments that compared it to "sleeping in the Ganges in Little India" and "Even Basil Fawlty would be disgusted. Would have rather stayed in a tent over the gutter." Ouch.
The other eight Asian hotels mentioned were Corus Paradise Resort in Port Dickson (no.2), New Delhi's Hotel Namaskar (no.4), Hotel Metro Tower (no.6) and Centaur Hotel, IGI Airport (no.8). Chennai's Raj Residency (no.5), Krabi's Ya Ya Resort (no.7), Haad Gruad Beach Resort & Spa in Ko Phangan (no.9) and Malacca's Mahkota Hotel Melaka (no.10).
You have been warned.
TripAdvisor also issued three other lists covering properties in Europe, India, United States with top spots this year going to Club Aqua Gumbet in Gumbet, Turkey, Hotel Namaskar in New Delhi, India and The Grand Resort Hotel in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee respectively.
Already, the list is attracting a certain amount of controversy with various properties issuing statements.
On the upside, last year's winner, Phuket's Phi Phi Don Chukit Resort, has vanished off this year's list, perhaps having finally cleaned up its act.
