Dr Noor Hisham: Malaysia records highest number ever of 1,884 new Covid-19 cases with 1,209 alone from Selangor

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 23 — Selangor recorded its highest ever number of infections at 1,209 cases today from a total of 1,884 positive Covid-19 cases in total, the Health Ministry revealed today.
Sabah was the second highest with 289 cases while Kuala Lumpur had 196 cases.
Health Director-General Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said only two cases were imported while the rest were locally transmitted.
“The high number of cases in Klang Valley is mainly from the workplace clusters in Teratai which had 1,067 cases and the Damanlela cluster with 101 cases. The 289 cases in Sabah is also high considering the low numbers recently,” said Dr Noor Hisham today during his briefing from Putrajaya.
“From the 289 cases in Sabah, 164 came from close contact tracing while 33 cases today came from the temporary detainment depot, lockups and prisons with 12 from the Bakti cluster, nine from GK Tawau cluster, seven cases from the Seberang Prai prison, three from the Sandakan prison and one apiece from the Tawau and Tembok clusters.”
Till today there are 115 cases being treated in the internal care unit where 48 of them are in need of the ventilator.
There were also two reported deaths today, bringing the total number of deaths to 337.
“Death number 336 was index case-51,858, an 80-year-old Malaysian male who died at the Duchess of Kent hospital, while case 337 was a Malaysian female aged 58 who has a history of high blood pressure, heart disease and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Both were from Sabah,” Dr Noor Hisham added.
Selangor has now doubled the number of reported cases consecutively after recording 603 cases yesterday
