He was a property agent by day and a serial thief by night, stealing from drunks falling out of pubs in the wee hours of the morning.
The last of Jack Ang Hoe Meng's five victims, Mr Takanori Inada, died after a scuffle in the backlane of Bukit Pasoh Road on Oct 23, 2010.
Ang, 41, was originally charged with the 30-year-old's murder, but last month he admitted to a reduced charge of causing grievous hurt and five other charges of theft, fraudulent possession and driving despite a court ban.
Between Oct 16 and Oct 31 in 2010, he stole a total of $13,093, of which $9,673 was recovered.
