Serial offender, 86, pleads guilty to cheating housewife of $250
Man has at least 65 prior convictions

A serial criminal accused of cheating a housewife of $250 was brought before the court on Tuesday.
It would have been just another case - except for the fact that the accused is 86 years old and has had at least 65 prior convictions in a chequered 'career' dating back to 1950.
Tan King Liang pleaded guilty to the cheating charge; two related charges - one of cheating the same woman of $45 and another of impersonating a public servant - were taken into account.
Gaunt, hunched and in need of help from auxiliary officers in entering and leaving the court, Tan has to wait until April 10 to hear his fate, pending the medical reports from various hospitals.
