</TR><!-- headline one : end --><!-- show image if available --></TBODY></TABLE>

<!-- START OF : div id="storytext"--><!-- more than 4 paragraphs -->I REFER to Mr Victor Zhuang's letter on Tuesday, 'Ease woes of Sengkang West residents with full LRT services'.
I agree with him. I often have to wait for at least three East Loop trains before one West Loop train arrives at Sengkang Central. Also, please take into consideration the fact that there are more young couples in the West Loop with babies and prams.
Whenever I go out with my baby and pram, I either have to miss the train and wait for another, hoping it will be less crowded, or squeeze my way in, hoping people will make way for me.
This has caused much inconvenience to residents of Sengkang West.
Please do not allow the operator to run the system in this manner. If SBS Transit claims it cannot cover its costs, must residents of Sengkang West wait another 10 years? Please give us the full LRT system.

That is the purpose of competition.LRT will then have to buck up its service offerings in terms of price, higher freq of trains, etc in order to attract customers back. Then pte operators will then also need to improve its services to pull back customers and so on and on...the end result is higher efficiency and benefits the customers.

I just moved into SK recently. I think the SK library in Compass Pt is quite pathetic. Those who've been to the new Bishan Library will know what I mean. They have a beautiful 4 storey library. I checked out HDB's stats. Bishan got 67000 residents last year, SK got over 140k, and growing fast! Our SK population will overtake AngMK soon (they also got a big library). There's lots of empty land next to SK MRT station. They should build a nice new library there, instead of making us cramp in Compass Pt!

Coz in those country commuters is not sardine anymore but ikan bilis
So appreciate what you got but keep sounding the issue to govt or ask them to try "sardine" experience

The problem with your thinking is that you believe in the line , hook and sinker information that is put to us.

Haring more private competition in the transport sector will allow each private public bus company to curve its own niche to survive. At present , there is no real competition. complains fall on deaf ears because you do not have a choice. So they can rest on their laurels.

If this polices is to continue , we will never have a efficient and cost effective transport system.

Bear in mind , that SMRT and SBS are "Private" companies in which our government are shareholders. By having monopoly , cost of transportation will not go down to a resonable level and the respective investment companies can easily show good results because the profit level can be manage without real competition.
