<!-- story content : start --> FROM today, a major bugbear of the islandwide Wireless@SG broadband network - frequent dropped connections - will no longer plague users. Called the Seamless and Secure Access (SSA), it will automatically log in users when connections are dropped, so they need not enter their login information all over again. It will also automatically connect users whenever they hit a Wireless@SG hotspot.
This has been a common complaint of many users, who has been facing dropped connections even if they remain stationary. There are 1.5m subscribers as of Dec 2009. To enable this automatic log-in feature, users will need to download it as an application on their smartphones or laptops. The download is available on the various Wireless@SG operators' sites, namely iCell, SingTel and M1.
It is available on most popular smartphones, including the iPhone and Android phones, said the Infocomm Development Authority (IDA). Once they download the program, a digital dashboard will appear, containing a suite of applications such as a hotspot finder. There is also a new, free location based service, where friends can sign up for to see where one another are. The SSA feature will be fully deployed to all Wireless@SG hotspots by September.
