When we were recently discussing Tan Kin Lian's tentative future bid to run for public office against PAP in this forum, you expressed your difficulty voting for the likes of TKL and Chia Ti Lik and that you would probably spoil your vote instead of voting for them.

At that time I questioned your above rationale and reinforced my "bicycle thief" proposition i.e. even vote for the proverbial "bicycle thief" against any and all PAP candidates to express displeasure with the way the PAPs have distorted the political system in Singapore.

Well you know the recent debate revisiting Yaw Shin Leong's dishonest fiasco in another thread got me thinking again over what I told you in our abovementioned dialogue and now I seem to finally understand your decision.

I think that you're carrying accounts forward unfairly here. What has Tan Kin Lian and Chia Ti Lik got to do with Yaw Shin Leong. Particularly, what have they got to do with Yaw Shin Leong voting for the PAP?

Incidentally, I know all three of them personally. They're very different and would evoke very different assessments from me should they stand.

See things from a layman's point of view and not " I know them personally" point of view and you will learn that many singaporeans have a strong distrust on the ability of opposition characters.

Bro I think you are under misconception here.

Did you actually follow my discussion with Scroobal in another thread viz voting for the likes of Tan Kin Lian and Chia Ti Lik?

Anyways it went along the following lines: Scroobal appeared to give the impression that he had difficulty casting a vote for people like TKL and CTL because of their previous links to PAP.

I questioned his above rationale along the lines of giving them the benefit of the doubt and my "bicycle thief" proposition (which Scroobal seemd to agree with to some extent in an earlier post in another thread). Suffice to say, Scroobal still appeared to have misgivings maintaining his earlier stance (which I believe holds for any opposition politico with previous links to PAP) .

Well likewise for me, when Kakowi raised his apparent "bemusement" at my extremely negative attitude towards Yaw Shin Leong in the other thread, in particular because of my above "bicycle thief" proposition, I justified my povs and explained away the apparent inconsistencies which Kakowi appeared to allude to.

No doubt Scroobal's apparent justificationan and my justification are not the same, however I personally am now able to understand Scroobal's apparent justification based on my reflections towards Yaw Shin Leong as an opposition politician.

Bro, despite it going against the grain of my feelings, the mathematics in me calls for the bicycle thief approach. A considerable and painful shift. Yaw is still a shocker as he does not realise the damage to the cause. Notice that both can't seem to handle the nuances of politics or explain it. They are more comfortable wrting about personal and emotional challenges in their blog as they though they are great thinkers but the shallow mind shines forth.

I would however continue to voice my concerns with the likes of 33 year old PAP cadres that suddenly see the light, those that leave the PAP mould when academic prowess and lack of faction influence forces them to seek greener pastures when the PAP has nor changesd it spots.
