I am just surprised that this nation keeps quiet while scholarships are open to foreigners. Just have to look at ST supplement on scholarship yesterday.
- Singaporeans
- PR
- Asean Citizens
- Foreigners who are prepared to be PR (not citizens)

One has to ask if this helps nationhood or is this just an Industrial park. Also disappointed to see that our minority brothers are no longer in the race. I don't think there is any other country that has gone down this path.

To add insult to injury, the foreigners are given bond-free scholarships and have priority over Singaporeans for job placements on graduation, as long as the prof comes from the same hole in the ground as the foreign scholarship holder.

Keep on electing the PAP and Singaporeans will be increasingly discriminated against, then when you grow old you will be thrown into neighouring countries' back yards and dumping grounds to make way for new Singaporeans.

What's the use of giving scholarship and bonding singaporeans when you have so many instances of singaporeans breaking the bonds. Any scholarships given to sinagporeans is a plus on their resume. Give the scholarships to singaporeans and they 忘恩负义

I was quite surprised too.

The scholarships cuts across all sectors from diplomas to PhDs.

The number of foreign students in our two national campus is significantly visible.

Why the nation keep quiet?

They are probably unaware of the number of such students and the total amount of money involved.

In the first place you shouldn't be surprised at all, in fact it is an open policy to welcome all well qualified FT.
The USA is a great melting pot , where the world's talent converge. The Jews and the Swiss brought their banking knowledge, the germans their engineering technologies, the italian their pizzas and their mafia and the chinese their forturn cookies and sputum. However, if you notice it is their politician who are native americans that screwed themselves.

For those who are against foreign talent,.the table may turn against you when you migrate to australia or US. You are considered an outsider too

Ya, Why complain?

Look on the bright side of things:

PRC Mei Meis - Bring their 'Hiya Hiya Lao Bang Lao Bang, you qian jui shi lao bang' skills n PUSSIES to SG...from NUS undergrad to Geylang...as a result, price per pussy pop has become affordable even retired uncles can have a pop in their golden years.

Indian Desis Girls - Bring along their 'Surplay Suni' skills n warmth ass to our shores...running around coconut trees in East Coast baring midriffs n shaking boobies. PS: Go East after dark n have a peek.

SG is a GREAT MELTING POT too! Just imagine little dickie stirring n stir in the 'hot pots'!

PS: Pappies - On hindsight, pls only allow in the Desis and Mei Meis...they make our lives better n we need BABIES in SG, good times or bad times....

I haved been aware for some time. In early 90s, PSC relaxed the requirement and allowed foreigners to apply for Admin Service. There are also no longer any requirement to be citizen to be in the Civil Service and Stat Board.

Besides these scholarships, since the early 80s, the following have occrurred

- scholarships have been awarded to Asean citizens for A levels. They now provide for O levels.
- 20% of places in NUS since the 80s were reserved for Malaysians and Asean. The 20% quota cannot be filled by Singaporeans even if their score higher than Malaysians/Asean

What I am puzzled is that this has been allowed for so long.

It just so unbelievable that there has not been a debate on this in parliament. This is the hardwork of committed singaporeans that are financing these people.

Nothing is transparent. No ones knows which are bonded which are not, how many have left or borken the bonds. If bonds are there in the first place.

Its a tragedy.

My greatest fear for Singapore and Singaporeans is the opening up of the pandora's box when a new govt is voted into parliament. On the surface we are already asking questions among ourselves of the visible cover ups. What of those we still do not know of?

The PAP is sending us to the cleaners and still there are people (disclaimer: not specifically referring to anyone in this forum) who would indulge in petty squabbles and speculations on the quality of opposition while Rome is already burning and the Emperor is........

Agree with you it is a tragedy. The bigger tragedy is yet to be realised when we finally wake up one day in the future to find that we should never have let this happen to our country and her people while we could have made a difference, but we just sat back, continued to let the PAP run wild. But then it would be too late.
