<!-- START OF : div id="storytext"--><!-- more than 4 paragraphs -->I REFER to the letter by Mr Jason Toh, 'Let us house them everywhere' (Oct 17).
In identifying vacant state properties for possible conversion to temporary dormitory use, the Ministry of National Development takes into account such factors as their availability, that is, whether they are already committed for use or have an immediate competing use, and their technical feasibility, such as whether they have adequate sewerage and other infrastructure to support the development.
Mr Toh highlighted possible uses for two school sites - the former Jurong Garden School in Upper Bukit Timah Road and Anglo-Chinese School (Junior) in Cairnhill Road. Both these sites have already been committed for education use. The Jurong Garden School site is now on tender for a commercial or foreign system school to meet the need for such school places. Anglo-Chinese School (Junior) in Cairnhill Road has already been slated as the Ministry of Education's second Language Centre. Lim Yuin Chien
