Contrary to all perceptions, the whole place was packed to the rafters - or as the Chinese saying goes - even water cannot flow through

Recession? Not in the minds of these folks.

At Eu Yan Sang, people were buying boxes of birds' nests and essence of chicken like stockpiling warehouse. 10 to 20 boxes at one go. Swipe NETS card, credit card, scary

At Giant, queues were half an hour long. One queue was very long with lots of guys because the China-born cashier is so drooling-worthy sweet

At Harvey Norman, there were crowds but I don't see many people at the cashier. The management is damn silly because they hire all these half-baked salesmen who don't know the products and have very bad tude - most low-lives who would be ah long runners if they didn't agree to minimum wage at these silly Aussie outfit.

At the foodcourt downstairs, tissue or no tissue, no table at all. And the screaming children can really drive one up the wall

Come middle 2009 when recession becomes depression, those who overspend will be the first to feel the pain

Of course there are a few thousand who have already been freed from slavery, i.e. retrenched and spending their benefits. Soon they will be on their knees

When property prices slide another 30%, the whole house of cards will fall an parkway parade will be park sway parade

What these people are puchasing are basic necessities. It does not mean the economy is still red hot.
