SINGAPORE: To support the development of the SAF's urban operation capabilities, a new training facility has been developed.
The Murai Urban Training Facility (MUTF) resembles a typical town. It is located within the SAFTI's Live Firing Area at Lim Chu Kang.
The facility features various urban districts to expose soldiers to different operating environments. These include multi-storey buildings and single-level houses.
For greater realism, features such as bus stops, traffic lights and overhead bridges have also been added.
To date, 150 buildings have been completed and training activities have commenced in these buildings.
The completed facility will house a total of 200 buildings and it will also include a variety of battlefield-effect simulators to further enhance training realism.
The facility is equipped with video monitoring and recording functions as well as a control tower for after-action reviews. These equipment will facilitate learning and doctrine development for the soldiers.
Minister for Defence Teo Chee Hean launched the Murai Urban Training Facility on Friday.
