$1 fee for each Nets transaction

LAST Saturday, I went with my family to Goldkist Beach Resort at East Coast Park. I planned to spend the night there and have a barbecue at one of the resorts so I needed barbecue materials.
I was told to buy all the items I required at the shop there, Wat-A-Deal Minimart. I wanted to pay by Nets but was told there would be an additional charge of $1.
I was shocked to hear that I had to pay an extra $1 on every Nets payment transaction of any amount. There are no ATMs near the resort, and the nearest machine is about 1.5km away.
One would expect Nets payment to be convenient so we don't need to carry too much cash around.
