Running Interference

Nowadays, with so many incidents of people behaving like scum shit in public places or trying to con others, it must be really tempting to interfere in what they are doing, e.g. telling them off or telling them to stop or even taking a picture.

But when do you guys think is an appropriate time to interfere?

I have 2 suggestions:

1. When the person is doing something that harms others, causes unreasonable inconvenience to others, etc.
E.g. When someone smokes behind you in the queue, yes. When someone is smoking 50M from you in an open space, no. If someone cuts his nails in the mrt, yes. If an adult wears a mickey mouse t shirt, no.

2. When they are willing to help out or have "some skin in the game" as the americans like to say.
E.g. They comment that you look funny, no. They want to help you look better, yes.

with 1.4 M foreigners ..we see a lot more unruly road manners...eratic parkings..horrific public behaviors.......
today I saw a Indians[ look most likely a FT workers, jumped over the metal barricade when the zebra crossing is less tham 10 metres away...and a stupid car simply parked in a car park ..almost 60 degree slanting in suntec..and almost hit by a truck which swerve in n out from loanes without any care for cars behind...
last week saw one car..[looks like a Ft indians..new red plate...driving at 40 to 50 ,,, cannot decide which turning to take ALONG THE HIGH WAY.....
also...got heavy Indian slang office workers who just sit down and squeeze into a table in hawkers cente without asking....a lot more....
well our gabmen say...be patients.....

1. If someone smokes in a queue 50m from you, you can interfere, since what he is doing obviously bothers others in the queue, even though you are not bothered.
Depends on whether you want to help others or not.

2. If he says you look funny, ask him what you can do to "not look funny". If he has no suggestions or ideas, ask him to fo. If he does, listen.
