RUN, BULL, RUN: Participants in the daily bull run during Pamplona's San Fermin Festival find themselves chased furiously through the town's cobbled streets by six raging beasts. Despite being heavily condemned by animal rights group, the event held in northern Spain continues to attract tourists to watch and participate with the locals.
There have been a total of 15 deaths in the event since 1922, according to Spanish media, with the last fatality last year. There are a total of eight daily runs held during the nine-day festival, which features drinking, concerts, and dancing. Pictured here is a scene from the first running, which lasted two minutes and 23 seconds.
An 18-year-old Australian from Melbourne and a 20-year-old Spaniard from the northern city of Saragossa were hurt on the first day, reported AFP.
