Pilot accidentally triggered and shot off 25 rounds of ammo in the air. Not only he did not noticed, the pilots of other plane in the same sortie also did not noticed! Could had shot down own planes!

Ground crews who unloaded the weapons did not do their jobs to count ammo when the flights returned to base.

Ammos sent back to ammo store and only 2 days later their stock-taking found shortage of 25 rounds.!

So heads rolled. Base maintenance commander + squadron commanders transferred. Pilots registered official demerits. Technicians tiok-charged.

IDF誤射機砲兩天後才知　空軍懲處過輕跳過基地長官？

國防部空軍司令部今(14)日上午證實，空軍台南聯隊在去年11月初發生IDF經國號戰機飛行員誤觸電門，渾然不知已擊發作戰彈的重大紀律疏失，空軍說，該架IDF戰機因機砲電門擺置錯誤，飛行員未落實檢查，致於靶場執行追瞄訓練時，肇生機砲意外擊發，已懲處相關失職人員。

針對媒體報導「IDF誤射機砲」，空軍說，軍已對相關失職人員，予以申誡至記過不等之懲處。

空軍司令部指出，對於操作訓練及裝備維保紀律，一向非常重視懲處，已針對此事件深切檢討，並納為案例宣教，嚴格要求各級部隊確實依據技令、修護手冊，貫徹執行飛行前、中、後操作訓練及裝備保養檢查，以強化飛訓與修護紀律。

據報導，這起IDF陳姓飛行員誤觸機砲電門，渾然不知已擊發25發作戰彈的重大疏失，機務人員未徹底檢查，是兩天後被管理彈藥的士官發現；空軍司令部將飛行員記過一次，相關違失人員記申誡。

當時出任務的另一架IDF戰機也沒聽到機砲聲，兩架戰機完成訓練後返回基地，不過當天機務人員未徹底依規定檢查卸下的機砲彈量，直到4日上午，彈藥士檢查才發現短少25發作戰彈。

有一名已退伍的施姓空軍機工長對該媒體表示，基地的修護長、大隊長、聯隊長都應調離現職。
