Some of you may remember that the Robinson Discount card was converted to a platinum OCBC VISA card. No problem there as they didn't charge me extra for the privilege of holding the card 
However recently after all these years I received a bill for $30
You guessed it, it was a service charge :(
I've checked with OCBS & although they waived the charges they told me that you have to spend $5,000 per year to have the this service charge waived automatically. Otherwise you have to do a manual waiver on a yearly basis.
This is an example of why I prefer doing business with Malaysian banks, e.g. May Bank. All my years of holding a May VISA card & they haven't tried to stick me with a svc charges.
While my experience with Spore banks is not so positive. I've had plenty of problems with OCBC since I had a housing loan with them. Spore banks must have people busy thinking of ways to add service charges & such rather than improving their svc
