Robbery suspect nabbed within 24 hours

SINGAPORE - Police have arrested a 47-year-old man for assaulting and robbing a female victim of her mobile phone inside a lift along Yishun Avenue 7.


On November 5 at about 12.10am, the 23-year-old female victim was entering the lift when the man rushed in.


He grabbed her neck, snatched away the victim’s mobile phone and fled when the lift door reopened.

The man was arrested at 5.30pm the same day around Yishun Ave 7 and the victim's mobile phone was recovered by police.

The man will be charged in court on Nov 7 for Robbery with Hurt under Section 394 of the Penal Code. If convicted, he faces a jail term of up to 20 years and at least 12 strokes of the cane.
