PETALING JAYA - A female bank officer had to endure the terrifying ordeal of helping three men carry RM200,000(S$80,184) to their luxury getaway car during a robbery in Bandar Sri Damansara here.
Luckily for her, she was left unharmed after the robbers drove off with their loot.
Petaling Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Arjunaidi Mohamed said the men had entered the bank at 2.40pm, wearing baseball caps and posing as customers.
"Two of them suddenly pulled out pistols and fired five warning shots," he said, adding that the robbers then overpowered a security guard at the customer area.
"The robbers then forced the bank officer to carry the money to their car," said ACP Arjunaidi.
Accounting lecturer Abdul Aziz Abdul Jalil, 36, who was waiting for his turn in the bank, said one of the robbers grabbed him from behind.
"I was choked. Some shots were fired and the robber asked me where the pump gun was. I told him I was not a guard but he continued to ask me where the pump gun was and threatened to shoot me," he said.
He said he could have been mistaken for a guard because he was then wearing his motorcycle jacket.
Abdul Aziz said he saw a robber force one of the security guards to open a door to an office, adding that once inside, he heard more shots.
"The last thing I noticed were the robbers dragging their hostage out of the bank and escaping," said Abdul Aziz.
Police are investigating the case under the Firearms Act 1971.
