Robber shot dead in gems shop heist

KOTA BARU:A 32-year-old man was shot dead by police after he and an accomplice attempted to rob a jewellery shop in Jalan Temenggung here yesterday.
The man, identified as Mohd Bustaman Bibi Ali, was shot by policemen patrolling the area.
His accomplice, believed to be armed with a pistol, managed to escape.
Kelantan police chief Datuk Jalaluddin Abdul Rahman said the two men were in the midst of the robbery when they were spotted by three policemen on patrol duty about 11am.
"Seeing the policemen, the two, each armed with a pistol and knife, ran out of the shop.
The policemen then split into two groups and chased after them. One of the robbers was shot by a policeman on the left thigh. He died several minutes later."
